With plans to return to action later this year, Vasiliy Lomachenko has considered how far away he is from entertaining a clash with Gervonta Davis.

The Ukrainian has not fought since his 11th-round stoppage of George Kambosos Jr in May 2024, while the announcement of his retirement came just over a year later.

During his career, he became a three-division world champion but suffered defeats to Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez, who both outpointed him at 135lbs.

It is therefore unsurprising that Lomachenko plans to return to his more natural weight of 130lbs, where fellow 38-year-old Charly Suarez has been mentioned as a possible opponent.

Should he come through this expected assignment, then ‘The Matrix’ may target a showdown with O’Shaquie Foster, who unanimously outpointed Emanuel Navarrete over the weekend.

In doing so, Foster merged the IBF and WBO world titles with his WBC strap and is now targeting the winner of Anthony Cacace vs Nick Ball, which takes place for the WBA belt on December 19.

Lomachenko could therefore land an eventual undisputed super-featherweight fight, or perhaps be tempted by a more lucrative opportunity against Davis.

Either way, the masterful southpaw has told Fight Hub TV that he must first test himself against a fighter like Suarez.

“You run too fast with the question [about a fight with Davis]. I need to check my body in a real fight.”

Despite pouring cold water on a contest with ‘Tank’ for the time being, Lomachenko would likely jump at the opportunity if he looks a million dollars in his comeback fight.
