Vasiliy Lomachenko offered title shot in first fight after retirement u-turn: “I’ll send him back”

Vasiliy Lomachenko has officially been called out by a current world champion.

After a remarkable amateur career that resulted in two Olympic gold medals and a final record of 396-1, Lomachenko entered the paid ranks and it didn’t take him long to continue that success.

He became a three-weight world champion, with his last bout taking place in May 2024 when he defeated George Kambosos to win the vacant IBF lightweight title.

Lomachenko decided to hang up the gloves following that fight, but the boxing world was pleasantly surprised when it was revealed earlier this year that he plans to end that retirement and resume his career at the age of 38.

It’s currently unknown who Lomachenko may target upon his return, but now a reigning world champion has offered the Ukrainian the chance to face him.

O’Shaquie Foster is the fighter in the question, with the WBC super featherweight champion telling The Ring about his desire to face Lomachenko.

“I would give him the opportunity. I can be the first one he comes to see. I’ll send him back to where he needs to be. If you coming back, let’s get it done. I got the title and I’ll put it up. We can make it happen.”

Foster first became WBC super featherweight champion with a win over Rey Vargas in February 2023, and though he lost the belt against Robson Conceição in July 2024, he regained it in their immediate rematch four months later.

Last time out he claimed a majority decision victory over Ray Ford in May, and if Lomachenko decides to return to the ring at 130lbs, then it seems a clash against Foster could be a serious possibility.
