Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson are in agreement when it comes to one reigning world champion.

Lewis and Tyson are both regarded as two of the best heavyweights of all time, and had a memorable battle in June 2002, with Lewis claiming an eighth round knockout win over ‘Iron Mike’ to retain his world heavyweight titles.

At the peak of their respective careers, the two heavyweight legends were viewed as unbeatable by a lot of boxing fans, and they have each now named a current star they feel that also applies to.

Speaking on Froch On Fighting, Lewis heaped praise on WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez.

“Benavidez, that’s my guy. He’s a serious contender… He’s a boogeyman in one sense. Who is out there to give him a good fight? I don’t see anybody out there giving him a good fight, he’s that good. I’d pick Benavidez to beat Bivol.”

Tyson then shared the same sentiment whilst talking to ESNews.

“I like him against everybody. He’s so underrated but so over-polarised here. Listen, I’d be afraid to fight him too if I was in that division. No one even has a chance against him, I’m talking facts.”

Benavidez is a two-time super-middleweight world champion, before he stepped up to 175lbs and claimed victories over Oleksandr Gvozdyk and David Morrell.

That earned him the WBC interim strap, before he was elevated to full champion when Dmitry Bivol chose to vacate his belt. Benavidez will now make the first defence of his world title when he takes on Anthony Yarde in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 22.
