Katie Taylor to box again in October or November

The Irish hero wants to avenge her loss to Chantelle Cameron

Katie Taylor to box again in October or November

KATIE TAYLOR will return to the ring later this year.

Her promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that when speaking to Boxing Newsyesterday in Manchester.

Taylor suffered her first career loss to Chantelle Cameron last weekend, but the number one female lightweight boxer had a rematch clause in place.

The 36-year-old moved up to 140lbs to challenge Cameron for her super-lightweight crown but fell short losing on points.

“Now the dust has settled all she’ll want is the rematch, but we expect to see her return in Ireland October/November,” Hearn said.

Cameron has already admitted that she would be happy to move down to lightweight and fight Taylor at her own weight.

“There’s a lot already decided in the rematch in terms of location, weight, and everything. I think that Katie, a bit like Canelo and Bivol, will want to do it on the same terms but maybe we look at 135[lbs]. We don’t rule out the Amanda Serrano fight as well at 135.”

Speaking to media after her triumph in Dublin Cameron insisted that some changes would have to be made in her favour should a rematch take place. During fight week the Northamptonshire boxer played second fiddle to Taylor’s homecoming. She also walked first to the ring and waited patiently while her opponent soaked up every bit of the atmosphere at the 3Arena. The result was a longer than normal ring walk for Taylor.

“She [Cameron] talks about some things have got to be different and I agree with her,” Hearn said.

“She gave up a lot to go there in the respect of second everywhere across the park. She’s the champion and she’s arguably the pound-for pound number one and she deserves that respect.”
