THERE will be plenty on the line for Kal Yafai when he fights Sho Ishida on October 28. If Yafai defends his WBA super-flyweight title he can expect to box in America in significant contests.

“HBO are crying out for Kal Yafai, which is amazing for Kal. I said to him the other night, you are the luckiest bloke I’ve ever met. You’re a super-flyweight and you are about to really be put into stardom and a lot of money as well. At super-fly,” his promoter Eddie Hearn said.

He could face Jonas Sultan, who beat John Riel Casimero last month or Juan Francisco Estrada, on a show broadcast by HBO. “They’re all tough in that division,” Hearn said. “The other one is [IBF super-flyweight champion Jerwin] Ancajas, who’s got to fight Jamie Conlan, but he’s very good. It’s just a case of whether we jump into a huge unification fight. I would like to build him on HBO. To have a good fight first, defend his world title and then move into a unification with [Srisaket] Sor Rungvisai or Ancajas. But a great opportunity for him. He will almost certainly box in America in the spring.”
