Julio Cesar Chavez Jr due for deportation following arrest

ACCORDING to U.S. Federal officials, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will be deported back to Mexico to face criminal charges. The famous son of a legend has been accused of inputting incorrect information on his green card and overstaying his current visa.

Shortly after meandering through 10 rounds with Jake Paul in California last Saturday, Chavez Jr was swooped on by law enforcement while out riding a scooter. Legal representatives have suggested that the incident is a publicity event linked to recent immigration arrests and crackdowns.

It has also been revealed that Chavez Jr has an arrest warrant out against him back in Mexico relating to alleged organised crime activity. Now, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement team have also taken a keen interest in the professional boxer.

Competing with a 54-7-1 (34 KOs) record, Chavez Jr, 39, has been grossly inactive in the ring. Before losing to Paul, he defeated Uriah Hall on points in 2024, after six rounds of non-action. Prior to that return bout, Chavez Jr hadn’t fought since December 2021.

During his prime, Chavez Jr won legitimate world honours, beating Sebastian Zbik in 2011 for the WBC middleweight title. Arguably, his biggest win came in 2012 when he beat Andy Lee in El Paso. Chavez Jr pushed Sergio Martinez close just three months after the Lee victory.

He later went 12 rounds with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. The next few days will contain a more harrowing fight of a different nature as the long arm of the law closes in on his liberty.
