Anthony Joshua‘s next move remains a constant topic amongst the boxing community.

The former unified world heavyweight was once viewed as one of the biggest names in the sport, but setbacks in recent years, including a fifth round knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, has seen him drop down the pecking order.

In that time, a number of others have emerged and become prominent figures in boxing, and rightly or wrongly, one of the most talked about fighters currently around is Jake Paul.

Paul has claimed wins over Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in his last two bouts, and was set to return to action on Friday 14 November for a controversial clash against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, but the fight has now been cancelled after ‘Tank’ was involved in a civil lawsuit for domestic allegations.

‘The Problem Child’ is now set to return in December instead and a number of opponents have already been suggested as possible alternatives to Davis, with Joshua being one of them.

Despite the vast level in experience, Paul and Joshua have been linked to a fight with one another over the past several months, and promoter Eddie Hearn revealed to IFL TV what ‘AJ’ told him about possibly replacing Davis and facing the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

“Just let me know where and when”

Despite Joshua’s eagerness, factors such as contractual obligations with different networks means a fight against Paul remains unlikely for now, with ‘The Problem Child’ reported to have approached a number of other big names, including Andre Ward, Francis Ngannou and Nate Diaz.
