NEW ZEALAND heavyweight Joseph Parker has an array of options. After halting Alexander Dimitrenko last Saturday he remains the mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua’s IBF heavyweight title.
But, according to theNZ Herald, Parker’s team are looking at a possible WBO title fight with Andy Ruiz. That depends on the WBO stripping the heavyweight title from Tyson Fury but Parker-Ruiz has been mooted for December 10 in New Zealand. Duco, Parker’s promotional group, has been holding talks with Top Rank.
“We have a lot of work to do but I would say right now that we are 95 per cent sure the fight will be held right here in New Zealand and more than likely Auckland given it’s the biggest market,” Duco’s Dean Lonergan told the Herald.
Parker was the favourite to snare the November 26 fight with Anthony Joshua. The IBF champion’s team however are currently exploring the option of fighting former champion Wladimir Klitschko this year. If that doesn’t come off and Parker goes in a different direction, Joshua’s options for November 26 could, surprisingly, start narrowing.
