HEAVYWEIGHT hopeful Jarrell Miller was being linked to an all-American clash on the Canelo-Crawford undercard. However, he has now revealed that Jared Anderson has pulled out of the contest and that Deontay Wilder has refused to replace him.
Miller, 26-1-2 (22 KOs), has not won a fight since 2023 but his stock has still grown in that time, after a spirited effort against Daniel Dubois and a controversial draw to Andy Ruiz Jr.
However, Miller is yet to fight during 2025 and is keen to get back to winning ways and prove himself to the be the United States’ top heavyweight and best chance at regaining a world title in boxing’s glamour division.
As a result, the New Yorker had been linked to a match-up with Jared Anderson, 18-1 (15 KOs), on the Canelo-Crawford undercard next month in an intriguing scrap between the two ‘Big Baby’s’.
Yet, on his Instagram, Miller fumed at news that Anderson has decided to opt out of the fight.
“Jared Anderson has officially pulled out of the fight, we all seen it coming though. I guess there is some beef going on over there at Top Rank and added to that, he has been getting high like a mother****er last month. So yeah, Jared Anderson has pulled out of the fight, so we are looking for a replacement opponent.”
Whilst Anderson is a no-go, it seems as though Miller will remain on the Canelo-Crawford bill against an alternate opponent.
Although, former WBC world champion and fellow American Deontay Wilder, 44-4-1 (43 KOs), is another name that can be ruled out, with Miller going on to explain that his compatriot has also refused to face him, due to his ‘disrespectful’ behaviour in the past.
“Deontay Wilder is a punk, they offered Deontay Wilder the fight and Deontay said I talk too much s**t and that I am disrespectful. You are the biggest p***y that I have ever seen in my life.
“We are fighters bro, if you really have a problem with what I’ve been saying then get in the ring and punch me in the face. Get in the ring and try to knock me out. But hear me out, he doesn’t want to fight me on the Canelo-Crawford undercard because I am too disrespectful, because I talk s**t.”
Miller continued to label the heavyweight scene in the United States as ‘dead’ and declared that the ‘U.K. is where it is at’, after being able to agree a fight with a fearless Fabio Wardley earlier in the calendar – only to pull out himself due to an injury.
With just five weeks to go until the mammoth Canelo-Crawford event in Las Vegas, Anderson’s withdrawal may explain the delay in the announcement of the undercard.
At present, speculation suggests that France’s Christian Mbilli, 29-0 (24 KOs), will collide with Guatemala’s Lester Martinez, 19-0 (16 KOs), in a battle between two undefeated super-middleweights in the co-main event of the bill.
Meanwhile, Ireland’s Callum Walsh, 14-0 (11 KOs), is anticipated to take on Fernando Vargas Jr., 17-0 (15 KOs), in a match-up involving two unbeaten super-welterweight southpaw contenders.
