Anthony Joshua looks to ‘end the boxing career’ of Jake Paul in Miami, Florida, propped up by an undercard featuring Alycia Baumgardner and UFC royalty.

The controversial eight-round main event is professionally sanctioned and a dangerous step up for Paul, who boasts wins over the likes of Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley — the two former MMA champions who face off earlier on the show — but has always had at least one key advantage in his bouts. That is not to be the case tonight. While ‘AJ’ may be past his highest peak, the two-time unified heavyweight champion remains a force to be reckoned with in the sport’s premier division.

Will Paul look to run and survive? Will Joshua’s confidence slip if he doesn’t score that much-discussed early knockout? How careful will the third man in the ring be when it comes to stepping in and stopping the action?

Catch up with the official undercard results below before live, round-by-round scoring — however short-lived that may be — from the Boxing News Online team.

Undercard results

Jahmal Harvey vs Kevin Cervantes – super featherweight

Result: Olympian Jahmal Harvey moves to 2-0 via unanimous decision against the previously undefeated Kevin Cervantes. Harvey scored a knockdown in the first ahead of a dominant six rounds.

Anderson Silva vs Tyron Woodley – cruiserweight

Result: Anderson Silva stops Tyron Woodley at 1:33 of the second round. Silva rocked Woodley with a big uppercut, before a flurry of shots led to the knockdown. Woodley was able to get back to his feet, but the referee waved off the contest, handing Silva the win in the battle of the former UFC champions.

Alycia Baumgardner vs Leila Beaudoin – unified super featherweight world title

Result: Alycia Baumgardner retains her three world title belts with a twelve-round unanimous decision win against Leila Beaudoin, who was dropped in the seventh and ultimately lost via scores of 117-110, 117-110 and 118-109.

Paul999107   44
Joshua101010910   49

Result: Anthony Joshua stops Jake Paul in the sixth, scoring a total of four knockdowns over two rounds. A shocking watch for the majority, with Paul moving, grabbing, falling and surviving until he was either motivated to engage or too tired to keep on his bike. When he did, ‘AJ’ finally found the success he was perhaps looking to force in the early rounds, and the writing was on the wall. Joshua will return to the traditional side of the sport. Paul’s defeat is not devastating for his brand, and will likely fight on at a lower level.
