A DETERMINED Jack McGann made it clear what he plans to do against Sam Gilley tomorrow night at York Hall.

The 31-year-old challenges the ‘Magic Man’ for the Commonwealth super-welterweight title in the Queensberry main event. McGann replaces Louis Greene who was the original pick to face Gilley in what would have been a rematch between the pair 12 months on from their fight of the year candidate.

McGann, who was already scheduled to appear on the card, got the call earlier this month to replace Greene and wasted no hesitation in saying yes.

“We was going to do a six-rounder at middle,” McGann said after today’s weigh-in where he and Gilley both came in at 153lbs.

“I just finished sparring, got the phone call and I thought this kid’s pulled out but it was good news. We said yes straight away.”

The Liverpudlian suffered a shattering one-round defeat to Greene in Riyadh back in March but bounced back with an impressive finish against tough Pole Lukasz Barabasz four months ago. Gilley, however, says he saw “gaps” in McGann’s performance which he plans to take advantage of.

“Everyone’s got gaps,” McGann countered.

“I’m improving all the time in the gym. If you want to go off that performance then be my guest. I’m coming to cause damage, be the bigger, stronger man and eat away until I get you out of there.”
