A mouth-watering clash between Ishmael Davis and Caoimhin Agyarko has been added to the undercard of Lewis Crocker vs Paddy Donovan 2.
The eagerly anticipated main event was announced just yesterday, confirming Windsor Park, Northern Ireland, as the venue for Crocker and Donovan’s welterweight rematch on September 13.
Along with that, it was revealed that the IBF world title, which was recently vacated by Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, will also be on the line for both combatants.
A more under-the-radar matchup, meanwhile, has just significantly elevated the Matchroom Boxing card, with super-welterweight operators Davis, 13-2 (6 KOs), and Agyarko, 17-0 (7 KOs), both looking to steal the show.
Claiming the local support will be Belfast resident Agyarko, whose sturdy performance in April saw him secure a majority decision victory over Ryan Kelly.
Interestingly enough, it was actually Davis who, while usually occupying the late substitute role, was supposed to face Kelly earlier this year.
But instead, the 30-year-old – who has only lost to Josh Kelly and Serhii Bohachuk, both on short notice – was forced to withdraw from their contest due to an injury which, in turn, presented Agyarko with an opportunity to reignite his career.
Davis, on the other hand, has since been ordered to face Sam Gilley for the vacant British title, but will now abandon that route in pursuit of a meaningful win over Agyarko.
It was also announced earlier today that battle-hardened veteran Tyrone McKenna, who comes off a punishing 10th-round stoppage defeat to Harlem Eubank, has landed himself a rematch with Dylan Moran.
Elsewhere on that card, former UFC star Molly McCann will enter her Matchroom debut, while unbeaten prospects Pat Brown and Aaron Bowen are equally likely to secure themselves record-building fights.
