Injury forces Isaac Chamberlain to withdraw from Viddal Riley showdown

UNBEATEN cruiserweight prospect Viddal Riley has been left searching for a new opponent after Isaac Chamberlain pulled out of their domestic dustup with an injury.

The pair were supposed to lock horns on February 1, featuring on the undercard of Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets at the Wembley Arena in London, England.

Earlier today, however, Sky Sports reported on social media that Chamberlain, 16-3 (8 KOs), has now been forced to withdraw from their eagerly anticipated clash.

Further details of the 30-year-old’s injury are yet to emerge, while an announcement on Riley’s next outing, and whether he will remain on the Sky Sports and Boxxer card, should be imminent.

Riley, 12-0 (7 KOs), has cruised through most of his professional contests with relative ease, with his most notable victory arriving against Mikael Lawal last year.

Despite being taken the distance, the 27-year-old was able to claim his English title with a comprehensive unanimous decision win, at no point looking in any real danger.

Chamberlain, meanwhile, outpointed Lawal in equally convincing fashion back in 2023, seizing the British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles.

But then, in his next outing against Jack Massey, the Londoner was forced to suffer his third professional defeat, with his other two blemishes arriving against former world champions Lawrence Okolie and Chris Billam-Smith.

In any case, Chamberlain was set to provide Riley with his first acid test, utilising his experience to drag the Brit into deep waters.

And so, should he remain on the card, it would be difficult for Riley to find a similar level of opponent on such short notice.
