HUGHIE FURY is gearing up to make his ring return against Michael Webster on November 29, featuring on the undercard of light-heavyweight prospect Gradus Kraus.
The GBM Sports event, which takes place at the Sportcomplex de Wilgenring in Rotterdam, Netherlands, next month, will see Fury, 30-3 (17 KOs), enter his first fight since stopping Dan Garber in April.
Following that fifth-round finish, the 31-year-old was supposed to face Michael Pirotton in June, only for a hand injury to ultimately scupper his tune-up fight.
Now, though, the former world title challenger looks to take care of business in another keep-busy outing, this time against Webster, while hoping to leave any injury woes firmly in the past.
As for Webster, the Yorkshire heavyweight is perhaps best known for his impressive display against Solomon Dacres in 2023, when the 30-year-old eventually lost a somewhat contentious majority decision.
The sturdy customer then suffered a seventh-round stoppage defeat in their rematch last year, before finding himself on the receiving end of an eighth-round finish against Jeamie TKV in February.
Topping the GBM bill in Holland, meanwhile, is Kraus, 8-0 (7 KOs), who dominated from start to finish en route to a six-round points victory over Scott Forrest last month.
Despite taking the assignment, and jumping out of his natural weight division, on such short notice, the 24-year-old – who, like Hughie, is trained by Peter Fury – nonetheless showed several glimpses of his undeniable talent.
Standing in his way this time around, however, is Rostam Ibrahim, a German customer who, while possessing an otherwise unspectacular resume, was able to outpoint Benjamin Gavazi – Ben Whittaker’s next opponent – back in 2018.
“Gradus Kraus has got global superstar potential,” GBM promoter Izzy Asif said in a press release.
“At our recent media day in Rotterdam, reporters from some of the biggest newspapers in Netherlands were saying he could be boxing’s version of Max Verstappen, a proud Dutchman competing on the world stage with the whole country behind him,”
“This fight on November 29 in Rotterdam is a crucial milestone for Gradus Kraus. Winning the IBF European light-heavyweight championship will open the door to the IBF world top fifteen rankings and into contender bouts, which will lead to the world championship opportunities he wants to be in this time next year.”
