The long-awaited meeting between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is just seven weeks away, and reigning IBF heavyweight champion Filip Hrgovic has offered his prediction for the fight.

Fury has scored consecutive wins since back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024; outpointing Arslanbek Makhmudov in April before halting Mariusz Wach in a low-profile meeting in Thailand back in July.

Joshua also competed in July, recovering from two shock first round knockdowns against Kristian Prenga before claiming the second round knockout win.

Both Fury and Joshua will have the opportunity to become boxing’s fifth three-time heavyweight world champion when they collide with one another, following the controversial news that the vacant WBA (Super) heavyweight world title will be on the line.

Although, when speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, reigning IBF heavyweight champion Hrgovic admitted that he does not expect the victor to pursue a title unification against him.

“I don’t think so [that they would want to fight me after]. I would be happy if I am wrong but I don’t think so.”

Then, Hrgovic went on to forecast a knockout victory for ‘The Gypsy King’ when asked to provide his prediction for the contest.

“I think Fury, based on Joshua’s last performance. He was fighting a journeyman and he went down in 10 seconds from such a soft punch.”

“I think [Fury knocks him out], yes, but we will see. I think it is an interesting fight because they are both superstars but I think that they are both past their primes.”

Fury-Joshua takes place on Friday, December 11, in Cardiff, as the pair of two-time heavyweight rulers finally collide after years of torment.
