CONOR BENN, the son of boxing legend Nigel, will next be boxing in the USA on the Danny Jacobs November 11 undercard.
His promoted Eddie Hearn said, “Conor has been looking really good lately and it’ll be a wonderful experience for him. The US fight fans will love Conor Benn. They’ll love his style. When I signed Conor Benn, I don’t mind saying, I signed him because he was Nigel Benn’s son. I’d no idea if he was any good and to be honest with you, in the first few fights, I thought he’s got potential but blimey he’s got a lot to learn. Now I’m looking at him thinking you are looking serious. He’s got great variation in his combinations, he’s a crisp puncher. He’s fit as a fiddle. Fast, he looks the part… I think we have a real chance with Conor Benn.”
Conor’s father Nigel Benn had a famous rivalry with Chris Eubank. Conor, a welterweight, could still find himself fighting a Eubank. Harlem Eubank, the cousin of Chris Eubank Jr, is two bouts into his pro career, boxing at around Conor’s weight.
“I don’t know anything about Harlem. Adam Booth said give the kid a chance, you’ll be impressed and I trust Adam Booth,” Hearn said, before suggesting that one day Conor Benn could actually fight Chris Eubank Jr.
He added, “Actually Conor’s still growing, Conor’s 20 and Chris Eubank [Junior] can make middleweight. They’re two weight divisions away at the moment and you can bet your life Conor’s going to get bigger.”
