Daniel Dubois announced himself as the top dog in the heavyweight division when he made a successful first defence of his WBO title, but there is one fellow world champion that vows to ‘destroy’ the Brit if they fight.

Having dethroned Fabio Wardley five months prior, Dubois and Wardley rematched earlier this month, with both men prepared for a gruelling battle after their Fight of the Year contender back in May.

This time around, the match-up was one-sided and lasted only a matter of minutes, as Dubois authoritatively removed Wardley from the heavyweight top table by dispatching of the Ipswich-based challenger inside two rounds to defend the WBO crown.

Now, Dubois is seeking world title unifications, eyeing up a shot at WBC champion Agit Kabayel, as well as a rematch with IBF titleholder Filip Hrgovic, whom he halted when they collided back in 2024.

Speaking with Pro Boxing Fans, Hrgovic reciprocated his interest in a second showdown, stating that it would feel like ‘fighting in slow-motion’ after he overcame Moses Itauma last time out.

“I think that after the Moses fight, with Daniel it will be like slow-motion. Man, Moses is like 10 times quicker than Dubois, he is a little slow but he is strong and he has got a good jab and it’s a tough fight, it’s a good fight but I believe I will beat him.

“I will stop him, definitely. I almost stopped him in the first fight and in the first fight; I was sick, I was injured and I was cut since round one because he was head-butting me.

“I think that I will destroy him in the next fight.”

Before Dubois-Hrgovic II can take place, it appears as though ‘El Animal’ will be made to defend the IBF marble against Frank Sanchez, with that mandated clash anticipated to take place in Croatia in either February or March 2027.
