Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are set to collide before the end of the year, and now a highly-rated heavyweight has offered to take on ‘The Gypsy King’, who is seeking a run out before his showdown with ‘AJ’.
Fury had called for a clash between him and Joshua to take place in the summer, but Joshua maintained that he requires a ‘warm-up’ first and it has since been confirmed that he will take on Kristian Prenga on Saturday, July 25.
It has also been announced that Fury vs. Joshua will indeed go ahead if Joshua avoids a shock defeat, with Fury also eyeing up a fight before a touted October/November blockbuster.
Having defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov last month, that means that Fury is poised for a first three-fight year since 2018 – when he made his comeback after an extended lay-off and fought Sefer Seferi, Francesco Pianeta and Deontay Wilder.
In terms of an opponent for ‘The Gypsy King’ in the summer, most of the division seems to be tied-up or too high-risk, but after defeating Lenier Pero recently, Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller, queried whether he could next face the 37-year-old Briton, in a clip captured by DAZN Boxing.
“We know [Oleksandr] Usyk is fighting Rico [Verhoeven], Tyson [Fury] might be interested but we got to fight on neutral ground. He can’t come to America and U.K. guys don’t really like me too much. Maybe, if Saudi and Riyadh want to put the money up, I will fight Tyson.”
Miller’s victory over Pero came in a WBA final eliminator and the New Yorker has moved up to #2 in the world rankings as a result, whilst Fury has entered the WBA ratings as the world #3.
