Eddie Hearn has provided another update on the long-running saga surrounding the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight.

Last month it appeared that all hurdles had been cleared for Fury and Joshua to finally meet when they each came through their respective warm-up bouts, but now there still remains disagreements over the location for the match-up.

Most boxing fans believe that the fight should be in the UK, a sentiment that Matchroom boss Hearn agrees with, but the other parties continue to push for it to take place in New York.

Speaking to DAZN, Hearn has revealed that the only way the fight won’t happen is if there is a breach of contract from the other side.

“The update is quite simple, we’ve signed the contract. We’re waiting for a date. Tyson Fury was shouting and screaming, there’s nothing to shout and scream about, the fight is done, it’s signed. Nobody can pull out of the fight.

“We’re waiting on the date. We know everybody and his dog involved in the fight wants to do the fight in America, we don’t. We’ve told Sela and the team, if you want to do it in America these are the terms we can move forward with, but we’d rather not please.

“There’s the option really. The contract is signed, if they deliver on the contract which they have to legally, the fight happens in the UK, and we’ll be very happy. There is no suggestion the fight is not happening.

“Nobody can stop this fight from not happening, the only way it can stop from happening is if they breach the contract. We have a contract to fight Tyson Fury in the UK and that’s what we expect to do.”

It is hoped that a resolution will be reached soon, but fans continue to grow frustrated by the ongoing delays surrounding the bout.
