Terence Crawford called time on his professional career last year and one boxing icon believes ‘Bud’ dodged a bullet by never stepping into the ring with him.
Crawford defeated all comers that were put in front of him throughout his professional career, as he hung up the gloves with a perfect 42-0 record.
Over the years he claimed wins over the likes of Errol Spence and Shawn Porter, but arguably his most impressive victory came in his final outing, when he stepped up to 168lbs to dethrone undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.
Crawford had further undisputed reigns at welterweight and super-lightweight, along with world title triumphs at lightweight and super-welterweight, but despite all of that success, it seems one Hall of Fame inductee thinks he’d have got the better of ‘Bud.’
In a resurfaced video, Manny Pacquiao was the legend who made the bold claim.
“I think he’s lucky he didn’t fight me.”
Crawford and Pacquiao were linked to a fight with one another for a number of years while both men campaigned at 147lbs and were under the Top Rank promotional banner, but for one reason or another it was never able to come to fruition.
While Crawford may have retired, eight-weight world champion Pacquiao is still continuing with his professional career at the age of 47, most recently fighting to a draw against Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title last July.
Pacquiao is now set to take on former foe and fellow great Floyd Mayweather in September, but the bout has been called into question over the last few weeks after issues were raised surrounding the contest.
