Gervonta Davis looks set to return to action in 2027, having last competed in March of 2025.
The knockout artist from Baltimore fought to a majority draw against Lamont Roch Jr. when he was last in action. A planned exhibition bout against Jake Paul later that year was cancelled when ‘Tank’ was accused of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and infliction of emotional distress.
Following news today that the case has been settled, the path for Davis’ return seems clear, and he will look to get back to the top of the sport in 2027.
With plenty of options at both 135 and 140lbs, talk now turns to who ‘Tank’ will face in his comeback bout. Boxing journalist Julius Julianis reports that a fight against Geroge Kambosos Jr. remains on the table following initial reports last month.

Kambosos Jr won the WBO, IBF and WBA lightweight world title in 2021 with an impressive win over Teofimo Lopez. He would los the belts in his next fight to Devin Haney, who became the undisputed champion in the division.
The Aussie has won just two of his last six – a second loss to Haney in their rematch, plus defeat to Vasily Lomachenko and Richardson Hitchins – and even one of his victories against Maxi Hughes was controversial.
He does, however, remain a good draw in the sport, and sells fights well. Clashes with Davis on social media have added fuel to the rumours.
Should ‘Tank’ return and get back to winning ways, major fights against the likes of Shakur Stevenson are still possible for the future.
