George Groves predicts Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2: “I won’t be surprised if he stops him”

Seven years on from his own fight with Chris Eubank Jr, George Groves has now predicted how the Brighton man will fare against Conor Benn for a second time.

Eubank won a unanimous points decision when the pair first met back in April, delivering a gritty and spirited performance. Benn impressed in defeat, however, holding his own with the bigger man and looking dangerous throughout.

This weekend, hosted again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the generational rivals do battle once more. Groves — who beat Eubank on points back in 2018 — told Bet Victor that he is backing Benn.

“I’m picking Conor Benn to win. I think Conor Benn will be fresher, I think he beats him. Benn will have the confidence of, ‘Well, he didn’t hurt me, he didn’t stop me, I can take his best shots.’

“And he’ll probably just be a little bit calmer, not waste as much energy, through excitement or adrenaline, or even nerves. I can see him settling much quicker into a fight, landing a few shots, and his pace and veracity making him win the rounds. Eubank still has a lot of heart, a lot of grit. But has a tired look to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if Conor Benn stopped him late, but the likelihood is Benn wins on points.”

The fight will be contested at the middleweight limit with a 10lbs rehydration enforced on Saturday morning — a topic of much controversy and debate last time out which will likely be the same again.
