GENNADY GOLOVKIN has hit back at Carl Froch after the former super-middleweight champion shot down a potential fight with ‘GGG’ and insisted the Kazakh fight better opposition.
Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler, recently joked that he had met with Eddie Hearn – who promoted Froch before he retired – about setting up a fight between the two.
Froch spoke to Boxing News and took to social media about a potential Golovkin fight, but said Gennady is too small and has not yet proven himself against elite opponents.
In response, Golovkin branded Froch a “clown” and goaded him for not taking the fight.

Golovkin also sent a message to Loeffler and Hearn telling them to stop teasing the possibility of a fight with Froch if it cannot genuinely come to fruition.

While Froch insists he is happily retired, Golovkin is set to box in early 2017 and, despite not having an opponent or even a date, is already in training camp. Talks are ongoing to fight Danny Jacobs, though the original planned date for that fight – December 10 – was taken off the table a few weeks ago.
