Gavin McDonnell to defend European title against Carl Frampton victim Jeremy Parodi

EUROPEAN super-bantamweight champion Gavin McDonnell will tackle Carl Frampton victim Jeremy Parodi on the undercard of Josh Warrington’s Commonwealth featherweight title fight at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on September 5. British lightweight champion Scott Cardle will also box on the bill.

Tickets are on sale now from Eventim UK HERE.

Hugely popular in his hometown, Warrington could take a key step towards a world title fight, if he overcomes Joel Brunker. The new IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby fought the Australian in his last fight before his world title triumph and Warrington is hoping, eventually, to catch up with the Welshman at world level.

“A fight with me [and Lee Selby] I think can be built up and left to a later stage, I’ll leave it to Steve Wood [his manager] and Eddie Hearn to get me the fights but it’s one that I desperately want,” Josh said of fighting Selby. “We’ll be looking at another year, maybe a couple of years before it happens. I’ve got to keep winning and he’s got to keep the title and we’ll go from there.”
