Ryan Garcia already has his next target in mind after a dominant performance against Mario Barrios.

Garcia finally achieved his lifelong dream of becoming world champion when he defeated Barrios by unanimous decision at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to win the WBC welterweight title.

‘King Ry’ dropped Barrios in the opening round of the bout, and went on to dominate from that point onwards, with the three judges scoring the bout 120-107, 119-108, 118-109 in his favour.

It didn’t take Garcia long to make his intentions perfectly clear following the win, revealing in his post-fight press conference that he now wants a showdown against newly-crowned WBO super-lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson.

“You know who I want, Shakur Stevenson let’s go. I want to be a great champion. I’m not scared. I’ll fight Devin Haney, I’ll fight Shakur Stevenson. Let’s go.”

Garcia then stated what he thinks the difference would be in a battle against Stevenson.

“You’ve got to have some kind of punching power to get me off you. I’m not going to hit him light. I want that fight. Shakur let’s get it. I want that work.”

Stevenson became a four-weight world champion last month when he stepped up to 140lbs and defeated Teofimo Lopez by unanimous decision at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The unbeaten star has previously claimed that any bouts at 147lbs would need a rehydration clause, but has also said he would be happy to fight at a catchweight at 144lbs, so that could be a way to ensure that the clash could indeed happen.
