Tyson Fury is scheduled to collide with Anthony Joshua in December, but ‘The Gypsy King’ is already eyeing up the fight that follows, claiming that Joshua is just a ‘warm-up’ to a more challenging bout next year.
Fury and Joshua have been linked to one another for the best part of a decade, but it has taken until now for a deal to be reached, with the pair set for a press conference in London on Wednesday; where concerns that their long-awaited meeting could collapse may finally be extinguished.
With just 10 weeks to go until the proposed fight night between the duo of two-time heavyweight world champions, 38-year-old Fury has now explained that Joshua is far from his end goal.
Speaking on the FurociTV YouTube channel, Fury said that a stateside trilogy showdown with Oleksandr Usyk is his real target, after he goes through ‘heavy bag’ Joshua ‘like a hot knife through butter’.
“I’ll cut through him [Joshua] like a hot knife through butter and then I want his sensei. I want Usyk, rabbit’s teeth, I want him in America though – where I will get a fair decision.
“I won the first two fights and I’ll definitely get a decision here, where it is fair.
“I am only using AJ as a heavy bag. I’ll punch the f**k out of him and then move on to Usyk, he will give me a good warm-up before March next year.”
Usyk was victorious in his two prior battles with Fury, and has been linked to a clash with former Fury foe Deontay Wilder, in what is planned to be the Ukrainian’s ‘farewell fight’, after the 39-year-old vacated his three heavyweight world titles earlier this year.
