Tyson Fury is set for a long-awaited grudge match with Anthony Joshua in December, but that has not stopped ‘The Gypsy King’ from looking to the future, as he has agreed a deal to manage whom he believes to be the next ‘heavyweight champion of the world’.
Fury will attempt to claim a much-desired win over ‘AJ’ in less than two months’ time, as the pair of two-time heavyweight world champions collide on Friday, December 11, in Cardiff.
At 38 years old, Fury has previously stated that 2026 will be his final calendar year in the sport and therefore indicated that Joshua will be his last opponent. However, he has also called for a potential trilogy clash with Oleksandr Usyk, should the Ukrainian delay his own retirement.
On the ‘Furocity’ TikTok channel, Fury announced one way in which he is already preparing for life after boxing, having signed to manage 24-year-old Russian heavyweight Aleksei Dronov, who is also coached by Sugar Hill Steward, and has clearly impressed Fury during training.
“Tyson Fury here and I have got the biggest news ever. I have just signed the next heavyweight champion of the world, Aleksei Dronov.”
“I will be managing him to the top, it’s the future heavyweight champion of the world, you heard it here first. Remember that name, Aleksei Dronov, git up!
“We are ready to take on all of these young pretenders, whoever you are out there – this guy is on your a**!”
The 6’5” southpaw claimed the gold medal as a super-heavyweight at both the 2018 European and World Youth Championships, as well as at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires that same year.
Dronov has since gone on to build a professional record of 12-0 with 10 victories coming by knockout, but ‘AD’ is yet to fight outside of the United States. That could change if Fury is planning on introducing Dronov to the world on the undercard of his high-profile showdown with Joshua in Wales.
