Carl Froch has considered the mindset of Daniel Dubois and predicted whether it will be repeat or revenge when he rematches Fabio Wardley.
The two hard-hitting heavyweights squared off in May, with ‘Dynamite’ scoring an 11th-round stoppage to dethrone Wardley and become a two-time world champion.
He only succeeded in doing so after surviving too early knockdowns, however, as Wardley floored his man within the first 10 seconds of their contest.
Dubois was then forced to climb off the canvas again in round three, before establishing his jab and landing repeated right hands on the remarkably robust chin of his opponent.
As a result, the Londoner claimed Wardley’s WBO title after losing his IBF strap via a fifth-round stoppage defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in July 2025.
Coming off such a one-sided beating, it was difficult to tell whether Dubois had the confidence to emerge victorious in a 50/50 encounter with Wardley.
That he did so in such spectacular fashion, though, suggests that the 28-year-old is firing on all cylinders ahead of his rematch with the Ipswich man.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hall of Famer Froch highlighted this self-belief as one of his reasons for favouring Dubois in their second encounter.
“Daniel Dubois climbed off the canvas and just kept drilling that right hand. He’s got a good jab; he’s got a nice, strong, solid backhand as well.
“Fabio Wardley is too brave for his own good – he would not go over. His face was all battered; I think his nose got smashed to bits.
“But this is a great fight – the rematch is going to be so good. I just think Daniel Dubois is probably too polished. He’s got that experience, hasn’t he? And he believes in himself now. Ultimately, I think Daniel Dubois will be too much [for Wardley].”
With Dubois making a first defence of his WBO title, his rematch with Wardley will take place at London’s O2 Arena on October 17.
