With talk of a showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury once again rife, super-middleweight legend Carl Froch has provided his updated prediction for what would be one of the biggest events in British sporting history.
Joshua has been linked to a clash with ‘The Gypsy King’ for a number of years, with the pair of two-time heavyweight champions being compared to one another throughout their careers; often leaving fan opinion split as to who would come out on top if they fought.
When discussing the bout last year, Froch predicted that Tyson Fury would come out on top, but the 37-year-old has since come out of retirement and faced Arslanbek Makhmudov upon his return in a points win last month.
Following that performance, Froch maintained that he thinks Fury will be the victor, but told Fight Your Corner that he thinks he will win on the scorecards, believing that Fury has ‘slowed down’ after witnessing his latest triumph.
“Tyson Fury wins on points, quite comfortably.”
“I think that he [Joshua] gets outboxed. He is past his best, Fury, he is slowing down but so is Joshua. I don’t think that he will be in the right headspace, I don’t think that he wants to box anymore, I don’t know why he is doing it.
“He has made money, he has had the titles and he has had a couple of bad losses. I don’t know how or why he would want to come back from that, just for financial gain.
“I think he will find out in the camp, that ‘actually, this ain’t for me, I can’t be bothered with this’, and it will show in the fight, if the fight happens.”
Joshua vs. Fury is expected to take place in November, providing both men come through their respective ‘warm-up’ bouts unscathed.
