After a fight of the year contender in their initial meeting, Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will collide again this Saturday and Carl Froch has now provided his prediction ahead of fight night.
Eubank Jr continued his family’s success against the Benn clan when he claimed a unanimous decision victory following 12 arduous rounds in April, 25 years after his father halted fan-favourite Nigel Benn.
However, the quick turnaround and potential impact of a second weight cut on the body of the 36-year-old has led some fans and fighters to believe that Conor Benn could even the scores in this weekend’s rematch.
Yet, speaking on his Froch on Fighting YouTube channel, former super-middleweight world champion Froch believes that Eubank will register a repeat victory over his foe due to his physical advantages.
“I think that Benn, if he takes his time a little bit more, has got more of a chance, but I’m still making Eubank Jr a favourite. I’ve got to be honest; he is so much bigger than him.
I stood and had a chat with Conor Benn last week and he is shorter than me, he is not as big, it’s just his frame.
I sparred Eubank Jr quite a lot of rounds. He is quite big and strong and tough, so for Conor to go 12 rounds with Eubank and have a close fight with him, it’s brilliant – I think he did really, really well.”
The bitter rivals will reignite their feud at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend, topping a bill that also features the likes of Adam Azim, Jack Catterall and Ishmael Davis.
