FRANK WARREN today addressed the media for the first time since a potentially game-changing deal was announced with BT Sport. Starting from February 2017, the broadcasters will show 20 of Warren’s shows live every year in a long term deal that was the brainchild of the promoter’s son, George Warren. BoxNation will broadcast live coverage of the events, as well as a further 40 cards exclusively (30 of which will be international), pumping up the channel’s output to 60-a-year.

“This is the biggest deal there’s ever been in British boxing,” Frank Warren said at London’s BT Tower. “This will allow us to develop young talent, and bring them through. We’ve got the biggest platform now with BT. I’m going to make sure this is a success story for the customers and the fans, we’re here to serve you the best.

“I’ve got the bit between my teeth and I am going to deliver,” he continued before taking a swipe at Matchroom, who have effectively had a monopoly on Sky Sports for almost five years. “We’re about the fans, this is what we are. If you were to cut us in half, you wouldn’t find bits of everything, dipping into whatever, you would find boxing, and boxing only, because that is what we’ve always been about.”

Warren will be looking to add to his Queensberry Promotions stable.

“We’ll be looking at other fighters on other channels wo might be unhappy and out of contract. They can come and have a chat with us.

“We are the biggest name in town now, and we will prove that as we have many times.”
