FRANK WARREN has signed two budding professional prospects, Sam Maxwell and Sunny Edwards, both of whom have stellar amateur backgrounds as national champions and GB internationals.

Maxwell won his pro debut last year but is a seasoned World Series of Boxing competitor and has 10 rounds with current two-weight world champion Vasyl Lomachenko under his belt. Maxwell beat Albert Selimov in an Olympic qualifier and won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, losing a tremendous contest to Josh Taylor in the semi-final.

“I boxed Lomachenko twice in two weeks, once in Kiev and once in London, the second time I really held my own, it was a really good fight,” said Maxwell. “I’ve had ten rounds with him in total and it was a great experience. He’s the best fighter in the world and it’s given me a lot of confidence moving forward,” Sam said. “I competed at an elite level in the amateurs against some of the very best boxers in the World. I took a lot from fighting in the World Series of Boxing and proved I belong at the top. I’m looking to use all of that experience to help me progress quickly in the pro game.”

Sunny Edwards, the younger brother of world title challenger Charlie Edwards, is 3-0 as a pro. A senior Elite national champion, Sunny says, “I’m all about quick movements and making my opponent miss. I always think about my defence before my attack. I’m light on my feet and I’ve been told many times that my footwork is my best attribute. I’m hands down, and I’m flashy.”

Another top former GB boxer Ekow Essuman has also joined Warren’s stable. “”Whilst I was with Team GB they nicknamed me ‘The Engine’ because I had a good boxing engine and was relentless with my combos and pressure. Now I’m more of a technical fighter and that’s something that I’m looking forward to showcasing,” he said. “Signing with Frank is brilliant for me, he has a well-deserved reputation for developing boxers in the right way and I’m confident he’ll do the same with me. The future is looking bright and I can’t wait to get started.”
