Queensberry promoter Frank Warren has signalled that Tyson Fury would be keen to come out of retirement and fight Anthony Joshua, but only if one condition is met.

The 37-year-old called time on his career last January, not long after suffering his second points defeat to then-undisputed heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk. Despite most spectators believing the results were fair, Fury claimed that he should have emerged victorious on both occasions, prompting him to hang up the gloves.

In any case, ‘The Gypsy King’ has since suggested that he would only return to the ring for a trilogy showdown with Usyk, rather than a money-spinning clash against Joshua.

Yet now, it would appear that he is open to a long awaited showdown with ‘AJ’ – with Warren telling Seconds Out that the ‘fight will happen’ but only if Tyson’s ‘happy with the money’ on offer.

“Provided Tyson’s happy with the money, the [Joshua] fight will happen. Simple as that.

“Last time I spoke with him, [he said] he’ll fight but it’s all about the money. If the terms are right, he’ll fight. If they’re not, he won’t.”

Joshua, meanwhile, has already lined up his next outing — an eight-round professional heavyweight bout with Jake Paul, for December 19 at the Kaseya Center, Miami.

The controversial fight, which will be streamed live on Netflix, represents the 36-year-old’s first assignment since his devastating fifth-round stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

Beyond his tussle with Paul, though, it would seem that Joshua is set to fight in Saudi Arabia this coming February, before targeting a blockbuster event with Fury in September 2026.

That much, at least, has been teased by boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh, who must dive deep into his pocket should he wish to see the two Brits collide.
