Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren has addressed the reports that heavyweight veteran Derek Chisora will face Deontay Wilder.

The pair have reportedly agreed a deal to collide in London this coming April, with Wilder having seemingly abandoned his negotiations for a clash against bona fide heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk.

Initially, it appeared as though the Ukrainian was set to defend his WBC, IBF and WBA world titles against ‘The Bronze Bomber’ in America.

On Monday, though, Brunch Boxing reported that Wilder will instead face Chisora, who looks to enter his 50th professional outing, later this year.

Chisora’s last two fights, which saw him outpoint Otto Wallin and Joe Joyce, were both promoted by Warren, who was looking to stage a trilogy showdown between the 42-year-old and Dillian Whyte last December.

But while that plan never quite materialised, Warren has told iFL TV that ‘Del Boy’ remains under contract with him.

“[Chisora] has a contract with us. What we deal with is facts, and the fact is that he has a contract with us.”

Since that interview, Chisora has doubled down on the reports by sharing a clip in which he and Wilder, via video call, talk up the fight and show the signed contracts.

Whether or not that means an agreement has been reached with Warren remains to be seen, but it is understood that the fight, should it move ahead, will be promoted by Kalle Sauerland, who has recently launched the Misfits Pro banner.
