Frank Warren: ‘Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury is 100% ON!’

PROMOTER Frank Warren is adamant that Tyson Fury is indeed going to fight WBC heavyweight Deontay Wilder. The two giants faced one another in Belfast and British and American networks, BT Sport and Showtime, have declared that they will broadcast Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury on pay-per-view.

So far so excellent, but without a date and venue being announced rival promoters have expressed scepticism.

Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury

Eddie Hearn told Betting Pro, “Unless he’s getting 20 million dollars for that fight, I don’t think he’ll take the fight against Wilder to be honest with you. I know they’ve said it is happening, there’s no date or venue yet and I think Fury needs one more [fight], he knows that.”

“I think if he can have a fight or two more, which was always his plan, he’s got a very good chance against the likes of Wilder and Joshua but right now, he stands no chance,” he continued. “I think he might have something up his sleeve but I don’t see him getting in the ring this year with Wilder.”

Frank Warren, who is actually involved in the deal, has dismissed such questions. “Don’t listen to those knockers who are grinding their teeth as well as their axes. This fight is definitely, one hundred per cent ON,” he wrote in his column.

“Tyson himself has dismissed as fake news that he is ‘baulking’ at the idea of fighting the ‘Bronze Bomber’ on his own patch. He insists the bout will happen. So does Wilder, and so do I.”
