Whether Tyson Fury can still impose himself at the top of the heavyweight division remains an open question, but one thing is clear: there is no shortage of willing opponents for his comeback.
The 37-year-old is expected to return in the first half of 2026, with April widely rumoured as the month the “Gypsy King” ends his latest retirement. Fury has not fought since December 2024, yet his name continues to dominate the heavyweight conversation.
One fighter regularly linked with a comeback bout is Arslanbek Makhmudov, the man who stopped popular British heavyweight Dave Allen in October, but the scale of Fury’s challenge could grow significantly before the year is out.
With a long-mooted British super-fight against Anthony Joshua still possible, another leading UK heavyweight has now thrown his hat into the ring.
Former IBF champion Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) is eager for the opportunity. The 28-year-old famously routed Joshua at Wembley Stadium in September 2024 before suffering the third defeat of his career against Oleksandr Usyk in last summer’s undisputed title fight.
Now training under Tony Sims and awaiting confirmation of his own return, Dubois has made it clear he wants to remain at world level.
Speaking to IFL TV, Dubois welcomed the idea of facing Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs).
“Yeah, definitely [I want to face him]. All the big names. I’ve fought them all. I just want to fight whoever in 2026. Tyson Fury, whoever.”
With a 95 per cent knockout ratio and a point to prove, Dubois would bring real menace to any Fury comeback — and little interest in easing the former champion back into action.
