FLOYD MAYWEATHER intends to sign USA Boxing Olympic medallist Shakur Stevenson to his promotional stable after watching the promising bantamweight shine in Rio.

The former pound for pound king, who owns Mayweather Promotions, travelled to Rio to take in some of the Olympic action, watching several sports – and plenty of boxing.

Stevenson has guaranteed himself at least a silver medal at the Games and will box for the gold later this week. Regardless of which medal he takes back to the States, it looks like he has a prosperous future ahead of him.

As the 19-year-old is still officially an amateur, he won’t have signed a promotional contract already though he will have to seriously consider Floyd’s offer after the Olympics. At this stage it’s unclear what discussions have gone on between them, but Stevenson has previously spoken about the nerves he felt when boxing in front of Mayweather.

Given Stevenson’s success at the Games, Mayweather will not be the only one vying for the youngster’s talents – especially if he wins gold.
