AS well as topping Forbes’ list of highest paid athletes, Floyd Mayweather has been named the world’s highest paid celebrity by the publication, beating the likes of Katy Perry and One Direction.

Since 1999, Forbes have been ranking the wealth and influence of the world’s biggest stars, taking into account income, Google hits, fan base, press clips and magazine covers.

But for the first time, this year’s list has ranked the world’s top earning entertainers by annual income only.

That stipulation means Mayweather’s record-shattering $300 million haul over the past 12 months lands him at the top spot.

Of course, the majority of his income was made in his superfight with Manny Pacquiao, who sits at second in the list having earned $160million.

Once all the earnings are counted, their May 2 anti-climatic showdown is set to make more than $600 million.

Katy Perry is third on the list, with a tally of $135million while the likes of One Direction, Robert Downey Jnr and Taylor Swift also make up the top 10.
