Floyd Mayweather is set for a lucrative year, but his planned exhibition with Mike Tyson has gone quiet, casting doubt over the bout – though ‘TBE’ has now confirmed whether the fight will still go ahead.

Mayweather and Tyson announced earlier this year that they would collide on Saturday, April 25, in the Democratic Republic of Congo in a bizarre exhibition contest. However, the lack of promotion and discussion has led to doubts as to whether the bout will take place.

Since then, 47-year-old Mayweather has also confirmed fights with Mike Zambidis in Greece and a shock rematch with professional rival Manny Pacquiao, which was believed to be an official comeback but may now only be an exhibition.

Meanwhile, the April date for Mayweather-Tyson looks to be a no-go, with that event understood to have been postponed, but with no new date announced.

Speaking to Vegas Sports Today, Mayweather confirmed that he still plans to proceed with his showdown against ‘Iron’ Mike, but did not provide an update on the location or date.

“I have got an exhibition with Mike Tyson also, another exhibition in Greece. So, if I am just sitting at home, working out every day, spending time with my grandson, spending time with my children, I said ‘why not go out, have a little fun, entertain and put on some exhibitions.”

The outings will generate additional wealth for the finance-obsessed pound-for-pound superstar, although a professional encounter with Pacquiao would surely prove more fruitful, if Mayweather dares to risk his fabled 50-0 record.
