Fabio Wardley to face Justis Huni at Portman Road on June 7

FABIO Wardley has a new opponent for his scheduled WBA heavyweight interim title bout at Portman Road on 7 June. The venue, home to Wardley’s beloved football club Ipswich Town, will host the event.

Wardley, 18-0-1 (17 KOs), aims to uplift the club and town with his 20th professional fight, expected to draw a sizeable crowd outdoors. He will now face unbeaten Australian Justis Huni, 12-0 (7 KOs), who replaces Jarrell Miller after the American withdrew due to a shoulder injury sustained in training.

The change was confirmed two days ago in a statement from Wardley’s promoter, Queensberry:
“Due to a shoulder injury sustained during training camp, Jarrell Miller has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Fabio Wardley at Portman Road on June 7.

“Queensberry is currently speaking to all relevant parties regarding the situation and expects to announce a replacement opponent within the next 48 hours.

Wardley also posted on X, stating, “A replacement will be announced this week and the show will go on!”

Huni was in action on January 8.

The British heavyweight, currently the WBA’s number one contender, will face an intriguing challenge in Huni, who entered the WBA’s latest rankings on 30 April at number nine. The 26-year-old Australian holds the WBO’s top contender spot, is ranked seventh by the IBF, and 11th by the WBC. Huni has fought once in 2025, securing a second-round TKO against Shaun Potgieter in January. Similarly, Wardley’s most recent bout ended decisively, with a first-round stoppage of Frazer Clarke last October, following their thrilling draw seven months earlier.

The Wardley-Huni announcement follows another Queensberry development, with Paris 2024 medallist Lewis Richardson joining Frank Warren’s stable.

Queensberry also announced the June 7 undercard this evening featuring the following fights:

Sam Gilley vs. Louis Greene II – Commonwealth and vacant British super welterweight title

Mike Perez vs. Steven Ward – Cruiserweight

Lewis Richardson (debut) vs. TBA

Pierce O’Leary vs. TBA – vacant European super lightweight title

There will also be appearances on the undercard from Christian Fetti, Jack Williams, Keano White, Umar Khan and Lillie Winch.

All action shoot out… just how we like it! 💥
