EZRA TAYLOR will still fight on this Saturday’s Joseph Parker-Fabio Wardley undercard at the O2 Arena in London.
The 31-year-old Nottingham fighter had been set to challenge Lewis Edmondson for the British light-heavyweight title, but the grudge match was called off earlier today after Edmondson withdrew due to injury.
RING magazine, which originally reported Edmondson’s withdrawal, has now revealed that Steed Woodall, 20-3-1 (12 KOs), has been secured as Taylor’s replacement. Boxing News reached out to Woodall, who confirmed the news.
“Yes, the fight was offered. I’ve never turned a fight down, so I wasn’t going to start now. I’m in shape and ready to go against the odds again,” he said.

Woodall, who had been preparing for GBM’s eight-man super-middleweight tournament ‘The Heist’ on November 8 in Hull, steps in at short notice to face Taylor.
In June 2024, Woodall caused a shock in the 168lb division by stopping former European champion Lerrone Richards in the sixth round. Earlier this year, the Birmingham fighter challenged British champion Callum Simpson in Sheffield but was stopped in just two rounds. Last month, Woodall recorded the 20th win of his career, outpointing Marcelo Fabian Bzowski over six rounds at 171lbs.
Taylor, unbeaten in 12 professional fights, moved up in class last time out to face former English champion Troy Jones. The competitive contest in May ended with Taylor winning on points.
