MAJOR heavyweight unification fights beckon for Anthony Joshua.

The Briton is already the WBA and IBF champion and New Zealand’s Joseph Parker, the WBO heavyweight titlist, could be Joshua’s first fight of 2018.

The impulse then would be to unify all the belts in his division, with Deontay Wilder, the WBC’s champion, lurking in America.

Joshua’s trainer Rob McCracken, told Boxing News, “The fights that can appear for Anthony are the obvious ones. They’re talking about Parker at the minute. I don’t know if Kubrat Pulev is back in training and obviously he was genuinely injured and missed out on the last fight, so Parker’s one there.”

Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker

He doesn’t expect to see Anthony Joshua versus Deontay Wilder in the immediate future. “The Wilder fight’s obviously still a while away and obviously needs to be built. If everybody’s sensible, that’s a fight that’s got to be built a little bit more. It will be nice when he fights Wilder that it’s a huge worldwide event,” McCracken said.

He gave his view on the American. “Wilder’s a good fighter. He has good power. He’s developed well. He’s WBC champion, he’s dangerous but all fighters are dangerous at this level,” Rob noted.

“My focus is obviously Anthony and Anthony developing and he’s doing that. He’s developing nicely, he’s improving all the time, he’s gaining vital experience so that when those fights do come off, he’ll certainly be more than ready.”
