Boxing fans have branded Anthony Joshua as one of the most fierce knockout artists since the turn of the millennium, with ‘AJ’ having won by stoppage in all but three of his 30 career victories to date, and now his former trainer Robert Garcia has summed up his power.

Joshua knocked out his first 20 opponents before winning on the cards in a heavyweight world title unification against Joseph Parker, with points victories in a rematch with Andy Ruiz and against Jermaine Franklin being the only other occasions where the 36-year-old has won with the aid of the judges.

Last time out, after a catastrophic start, the heavyweight veteran proved that he still possesses one-punch knockout power ahead of a rumoured showdown with Tyson Fury, knocking out Kristian Prenga with a devastating shot after being floored twice himself in the opening round.

Speaking to Ring Magazine, Robert Garcia, who trained Joshua for his 2022 rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, described the Briton’s power as ‘insane’.

“Both are in a position where, if it had been earlier, it would have been such a better fight, but Anthony still has that power. Anthony has that right-hand – I have felt it, I have worked with him  — it is insane.

“He has got that power that you don’t compare to nothing else.”

Looking ahead to his clash with ‘The Gypsy King’, Garcia then went on to insinuate that Fury’s ability, or inability, to absorb Joshua’s power will be the deciding factor in their fight.

“If Fury takes that punch, then Anthony could be in trouble, but Anthony hits so hard that he would knock anybody out.”

Fury-Joshua is believed to be being targeted for November in New York, but reports that the event is ready to be announced are understood to be wide of the mark.
