Chris Eubank Jr has vowed to return to the ring despite calls for him to retire after his most recent performance, and now, it seems as though he will likely face a British former world champion in his comeback.
Eubank trumped Conor Benn back in April 2025, but the Sussex middleweight was fortunate to hear the final bell in their rematch, floored twice in the final round after a one-sided contest that levelled the scores between he and his most fierce rival.
Still, it was unclear whether Eubank was truly defeated by Benn, the weight cut, Father Time, or a combination of all three – and it appears as if the 36-year-old wants to find out for himself, refusing to hang up the gloves on the back of such an underwhelming showing.
Earlier this month, former IBF welterweight world champion Kell Brook teased that he could be Eubank’s opponent for a mooted December fight date, ending a near five-year spell of inactivity following his February 2022 retirement.
Although, in an interview with Boxing King Media, Eubank’s manager Elliott Amoakoh confirmed that there is an ’80% chance’ of his fighter facing Brook or rematching Billy Joe Saunders upon his return.
“80% chance [that it is against either Kell Brook or Billy Joe Saunders]. It is very warm, that list is very warm.”
Saunders overcame Eubank Jr in 2014 in a defence of his British and European middleweight titles, but the slick southpaw has not fought since losing his WBO super-middleweight world titles in a damaging defeat to Canelo Alvarez in May 2021.
