IN a fight dubbed 50-50 Errol Spence Jr is of the opinion that he possesses the better fundamentals between himself and Terence Crawford.

On July 29 one of boxing’s most anticipated fights in recent years will go down at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The two best welterweights in the world can each make a valid argument for winning because on paper very little separates them.

Unbeaten in 28 fights Spence holds wins over Kell Brook, Shawn Porter and Yordenis Ugas among others. Against Crawford though comes the defining moment in his career.

Speaking to The Dallas Morning News, Spence shared what he believes are the differences between himself and his great rival.

“I feel like I’m the stronger fighter,” he said. “I feel like I’m more durable especially if we just stand there and go at each other. I just feel like I have the better fundamentals.

“I feel like boxing wise I’ve got all the fundamentals. Jab, hook, whatever it is.

“I do everything right and I just feel like I’m going to be the better fighter overall. I mean, he has a lot of talent and skills, he can move.”

Spence versus Crawford is the type of elite matchup which has already drawn comparisons to the greatest welterweight fights of all time. The Texan offered some of his own choices clearly aware of how big July 29 is.

“This is a legacy fight,” he said.

“For me, this is Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns. This is Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad. This is a huge fight.

“Everyone says the Floyd (Mayweather) and (Manny) Pacquiao fight was huge, but they were a lot older. We’re in our primes.”

“I feel like this is going to be an amazing fight,” he continued. “Everyone knows he has knockout power I have knockout power. We’re going to put on an amazing show, an amazing performance.”
