EDGAR BERLANGA insists he can still become boxing’s biggest name after losing his first world title shot.

The 27-year-old challenged Canelo Alvarez for his three world super-middleweight titles in Las Vegas last night but came up short after going the 12 rounds. Berlanga’s pre-fight bravado did nothing to unsettle the champion, and when it mattered most, the Puerto Rican offered little threat to the Mexican.

During last night’s aftermath, Berlanga gave the waiting media his reaction to the loss that ended his unbeaten record.

“I feel good. I mean, I don’t feel too good because at the end of the day I’m a person that likes victories. But at least I gave it the works tonight For sure, I fought a legend, but after this, it’s superstar status. I know I could be the face of boxing after this fight.”

Berlanga also revealed what Canelo told him in the ring after the fight was over.

“He said I’m a great fighter. And I’ve got a great future ahead of me. He knows it’s all love, I think.”
