HAMZAH Sheeraz said that staying focused and not becoming emotionally involved has helped him arrive ready to fight Edgar Berlanga. The UK boxer was speaking just moments after the ceremonial weigh-in before their clash tomorrow evening.
Sporting a Tottenham Hotspur football shirt, Berlanga committed to an intense staredown, forcing his way in front of a nonplussed Sheeraz for photos. “Saturday night gonna be fireworks man, I’m locked in, ready to f**k this dude up,” said the well-supported puncher.
Shakur Stevenson and William Zepeda also hit the scales. Straight after their weigh-in, Interim lightweight king Zepeda said that Stevenson’s middle finger was a sign of familial disrespect. “I’m prepared, I’m ready,” responded Stevenson, who claimed he was taking it one step at a time.
“I keep on watching the fight between Mayweather and Castillo. I watched it four times last night,” said Zepeda’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, who sees stylistic potential for an upset.
Alberto Puello and Subriel Matias had plenty to say ahead of Puello’s WBC super-lightweight title defence. The pair fizzed away in Spanish throughout their face-off and subsequent photographs.
