Daniel Dubois has emerged as the man to beat in the heavyweight scene, and as he plots his next move, he has revealed who he would rather face between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Dubois dominated Joshua when they went up against each other two years ago, halting ‘AJ’ in sensational fashion in a first defence of his IBF heavyweight world title, with Joshua calling for a rematch during the aftermath until an injury kept him sidelined.
Since then, Dubois has lost his belt to Oleksandr Usyk, but became a two-time world champion when he dethroned Fabio Wardley back in May – and then defended the belt with a two-round destruction of Wardley in their rematch on Saturday night.
As a result, ‘DDD’ is now on the hunt for world title unifications and none would be bigger that a showdown between he and the victor of Fury and Joshua’s upcoming bout for the WBA (Super) heavyweight crown at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in December.
Speaking to iFL TV, Dubois stated that he would love to face the winner of that long-awaited grudge match, but admitted that he would prefer a clash with ‘The Gypsy King’ over a rematch with Joshua.
“I will have that [the winner of Fury-Joshua], all day long.
“[I would rather fight] Fury.”
Dubois is being rumoured for a return to action in February, which could line him up for a title unification against WBC titleholder Agit Kabayel, who fights Nelson Hysa in Dusseldorf, Germany next month.
