DILLIAN WHYTE will fight former heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker on July 28 at the O2 arena in London.

The heavyweights are ranked in the top 10 and are vying to push themselves forward as possible contenders for the reigning world champions. New Zealand’s Parker is looking to bounce back from his March defeat to unified boss Anthony Joshua. Parker lost his WBO championship to Joshua, who also holds the WBA and IBF world belts, in Cardiff in March. But the New Zealander became the first professional opponent to last the 12-round distance with Anthony Joshua.

Whyte’s long standing rivalry with Joshua also brought him to prominence. He lost a bitterly fought British title fight to him in 2015. Since then Dillian has steadily worked his way to world level. He went on a run of seven wins culminating in knocking out Lucas Brown at the earlier this year.

Whyte has made a bold choice in facing Parker. He had world title eliminators with Kubrat Pulev or Luis Ortiz in front of him as options. He’s decided to fight a dangerous former world champion instead.
