BRITISH heavyweights Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora will still fight each other this weekend after Chisora threw the bout into jeapordy by hurling a table at Whyte during a press conference yesterday.

The British Boxing Board of Control held an emergency meeting earlier today to discuss the incident and decide what punishments would be handed down – including the option of cancelling the fight.

It has since been confirmed that the fight will go ahead however Whyte’s British title will not be on the line. Chisora has also been ordered to pay a £25,000 fine, plus a further £5,000 in costs.

The north Londoner has also been given a suspended sentence by the Board, meaning that if he steps out of line at any point in the next two years his licence will be revoked without a hearing.

Earlier today BBBofC General Secretary Robert Smith told Boxing News he was ‘disgusted’ by the incident.

Whyte-Chisora will however still be a WBC eliminator, meaning the victor will be in line to challenge current champion Deontay Wilder.

Whyte and Chisora will weigh in separately tomorrow to avoid any more confrontations before fight night.
